Residents in most (if not all) of the aforementioned On/Upon towns may shorten the name to the first bit...Newcastle, Skipton, Burton, Newark, and are NEVER referred to by the name of the river they're on.......oh no.....just 'Ull..............!

Blackadder wouldn't have been so smug with it's Oxford, Cambridge.....Hull line if we as a people used the correct name for the King's Town.....
