Del, Stones are the weapon of choice for some of the kids of Africa, as you approach some villages the kids will throw stones, then the next village will throw fruit and sugar cane etc.
But thats the magic of cycle touring, that is what attracts us guys and girls to test ourselves and push the bounds.
I always found the first 3 weeks of a long tour to be the hardest, as you get into a suitable daily routine, and feel comfortable in the trip and shake ones self out. Also I find if I start at the furthest point away from home and head back towards home I am happest, but that mostly not possible as I seemed to choice routes which did not allow that to happen.
