Will a Klick Fix handlebar fitting, marry up with an Ortleib handlebar bag?

The wire system that Ortleib supply is terribly designed.

It does work. It's not the same as the Ortlieb fitting, but the Ortliebs are engineered to take them both. That wire system is really solid, but yeah a pain in the arse if you need to change stem or bars.

Yes .... and No

Modern ones do, but older ones had a couple of small plastic ridges that needed filing first

I will see if I can find a Klick Fix tomorrow and report back.

I like all Ortlieb gear but those brackets are total crap.

Really ?
I always thought it was rather clever.
Its not designed to be moved between bikes though!, and it can be a bit fiddly to put on
But I have found it's a 'fix and forget' situation, I fitted my one over a decade/20,000 miles ago, it not be touched, altered or tightened up since, and it's carried a medium weight bar bag across a lot of bumpy roads

It is as someone has already mentioned Brains, once you put it on a bike it is difficult to move because the plastic sheath gets shredded. The Klickfix system can be moved from bike to bike and is simple to fit. It seems Strange that Ortleib has not addressed this.

The Klickfix is harder to make a mess of attaching - hamfisted overtightening on my part - but I can confirm you can still end up stripping the sheath and permanently jamming the wire in where you screw tighten it.

The Klickfix handlebar bracket does take the Ortleib handlebar bag without any adjustment at all. It is much, much easier to fit than Ortleib bracket and appears to be much firmer.

It does come with a wire in a plastic sheath but this appears to be more of a safety wire rather than a securing wire.

The bracket is actually fastened by 4 screws and takes 5 minutes to fasten on securely.

Far better than the Ortleib bracket.

I have a set of Ortlieb panniers but not one of their bar bags as I didn't like the mounting bracket. Instead I use a Vaude bar bag which has a Klick-Fix mounting bracket instead which is far easier to use. There is also a wire cable for locking the bracket and securing the bar bag but have never used this preferring to leave it off altogether. The Klick Fix bracket is also pretty robust and fairly inexpensive so one can have the same bracket on more than one bike meaning you can carry your bar bag on different bikes with ease. As to whether Ortlieb and Klick Fix bracket are interchangeable I don't know. They look pretty similar. But others above have suggested they are.
Simples.

And Ortlieb bag will go on both brackets, not sure a bag with a Klick Fix socket would go on an Ortlieb bracket, but then it's unlikely anyone would want to try. The two mounts are not identical and the way they fit the socket bag is different - not being an engineer and speaking from memory I'm gonna have trouble explaining how - just Ortlieb have engineered the socket on their bag to take both.

Where did my life go wrong I'm nerding on barbags.

Most good LBS sell Klickfix bracket kits about £16.99. You will need to make a back plate to place inside your bar bag through which you have to bolt the Klick-fix plastic plate which will sit on the outside of the back of the bar bag. A plastic chopping board is ideal for this cut down to size to fit inside your bar bag if possible under the lining. You will need longer bolts as well. This means the bar bag has a lot more support when mounted on the Klick-Fix bracket. I put a Klick fix mounting plate on my Topeak bar bag as their mount doesn't fit the Klick Fix handle bar bracket. The back lining can be unzipped which was fortunate. HTH.
