Due a new 9speed chain for commuting. Currently running an x9-93 but has got rather rusty even with regular maintenance. Chain renewals circa 2000miles. Doing typically over 5k miles a year in all weathers that sunny Scotland can chuck out!
Since range topping x9-sl versions are available for under £30 on fleabay, are worthwhile improvements to be had further along the kmc chain from the x9-93 or is it spending a little extra just for sake of it?

Also considering upgrading to 10spd for better ratios/cost. Can 9 spd sti's work with 10spd setup 'til an appropriate RH shifter is sourced? Cheers

I just buy the cheapest X chain I can find when I need one.

I've never had a problem with them and never felt the need to spend anymore money on a 'better' chain.

I was using the X-93's as my normal chain, tbh with the amount of dirt on mine there seemed little point buying them over the X-73 which is just a grey instead of silver.
£10 or so at Ribble if you are making a £35+ order which I was
