Could be WJ51 VRY That is a CITROEN C5 HDI LX ESTATE 1997cc (07-09-2001) DIESEL

Very interesting - I have two written down versions of the plate, one written by me (granted after the accident) and the other given to me by a witness. Both are the same .

However your description of the vehicle is exact -and if the color is blue then that is the car.

So it would appear we can add a dodgy plate to the list of offenses

I know a bloke who has a similar job. He uses the fact that he has a big green NHS sign in the front and rear windows to drink and drive and not get stopped.
This ploy works well and he regularly drinks 7-8 pints before driving home.

Big change of subject but I thought you might like to know.

If what you say is true, report him to the police. Now, or even better, when you know he will be driving home next. It wouldn't matter how close a friend they were, but if I knew someone was drink driving I would have no hesitation in reporting them. One less idiot on the road.

Wow.

If that is common knowledge what has ever stopped someone informing his employer? Or the Daily Mail?

ASKMID is good, but when I go into work tomorrow the vehicle I will drive will not be 'insured' according to the askmid database. (I have just checked to see if the vehicle is 'insured' and it is NOT ON THE DATABASE TODAY!) However the vehicle is insured on a policy that is worded to cover 'any vehicle belonging to .....'

I imagine it may be the case of many fleet insurance policies and may be the case in this instance.

Edit: I have checked some other registrations of vehicles that I regularly drive and they do show up on the database.

Interesting.

I'm a civil servant; my work vehicles are not insured; they are underwritten by the Treasury. Most crown property is the same. (They also don't have tax discs; they have crown exemption certificates. This is actually far more hassle than it's worth, but that's another story). However, they still appear on the MID database.

My ex-wife and I once reported her Dad to the police for drink driving. We'd repeatedly begged him to stop doing it, week after week, until finally we could no longer live with the thought that he might injure or kill someone and we'd not tried to prevent it.

Unfortunately, he took a detour on the way home that night to go to a supermarket and go shopping, so the Police gave up waiting outside his house and drove off. He never was caught, and I believe he still thinks he's fine to drive after a few bottles of wine .

Try your local licencing authority as regards the fact that it was a private hire vehicle. Put in both a request for the information held on the vehicle. Make, model & plate number as issued by them to the vehicle owner for use on the vehicle. Not forgetting the driver details.

Anything not as reported its worth going back to the police & informing the hospitals that use the service.

*thread mining alert*

Woooop wooop woop!

That was deliberate, see the second post - next time he knocks off a cyclist who may well be less fortunate than I, and someone does a google search they will find he already has been reported the police, and the police are well aware that there is a visually impared minicab driver in an uninsured vehiclae working a hire and reward business

I'm confused - how does classic33's post have anything to do with that?

If you want it more visible in google searches, I'd suggest editing the title of the topic to have his reg. no., name, and other details included.

What's thread mining?

it's the practice of restoring old threads. this thread started on the 22 Dec and ended on the 24th. Classic33 revived it by posting to it yesterday.

personally, I don't think two weeks is long enough to call this thread mining (especially over holiday season). two months maybe
