Best grovel and bring him back from Wentworth for a net...I have just seen the OBO reportage of the first day! Too many Cooks spoil the both....the other opener failed the Lythmus test blah blah...The Bell is out of Ballance and McCullum is ringing the changes and the NZ bowlers are going like the clappers and...at least someone's taken Root, and there's no Stokes without fire, so let's hope there is a big 'double' innings after lunch. So far, the only unbroken stands are the ones seating the spectators.
"Over to you Mr Boycott..."
Steffon Armitage might get a game in the 2nd test...batting at No 6

You missed a couple....horse has Bolted, game gone Southie for England

Sorry, Teef, but it's this bloody Middlesex thing.

Paul Downton - NOBBER - and now Stauss a cry-baby NOBBER.

I'd rather have Phil Tufnell as England head honcho: at least there would be a few laughs.

Far too late, but Mike Brearley (oh, he's Middlesex, too, FFS :okay:) should have been involved at some point in the past. Not the best of batsmen, but an astute and quality captain and excellent man-manager, but his time came and went, and since then the old boys' network has been doing sweet FA calling the shots.

I mean, Middlesex isn't even a county - just a London post code, and home of a team of nobbers. ;)

Tuffers was Middlesex wasn't he?

Incidentally, I sat next to John Emburey at a cricket function a few years ago, and what a decent fella he is.

I told him that I didn't like him as a player as he always looked so miserable and bored. He laughed (LOUD) and said that his wife always used to say the same thing.

I might be meeting him again in July at another do - at my old club.

Did you mention to Embers that he never turned a ball either?

Angus Fraser was a selector at one stage as well.

Edit: according to Wikipedia he still is.
Angus is an Old Boy of my Skool. As is Mark 'Swivelhips' Ramps. Finchley Rugby Club had the dirtiest No 8 in history. I think he died actually. They used to have a 7s tournament over there at Copthall, which is now Saracens.(They'll not let the grass grow under their feet). Phil Edmonds was another of the Middx spin doctors, as well as being a city gent type. Jack Robertson was one of the best, and he taught me all I have now forgotten. And he bowled me out once, so he must have been good. Anyway, back to Delon Armitage...or are we still talking about Dayvo being offered a position on the TMS team? Typical Essex crab...with his bat made of Bentwood.
