Given that Landa would lose a sprint in which he was the only one racing, it's surely no surprise Bernal beat him in a two up sprint.
He gifted the young prodigy the stage.....the great one knew to his disciples that coming second and to keep racing after the shortened finish was far more Landismo.....

Its had more than enough effect on the vuelta already

Look what the farmers protest did to the Vuelta a Andalucia, just last year. A 5 day race ended up as a 5km time trial.
Just Stop Oil a couple of years earlier.
Historically, bike races have fallen victim to many factions with a grievance.

And you then give free reign to any protest, on any platform.

It'd result in chaos at every sporting event and a total change to the routes and ability to spectate.

Campaign against chemicals? Disrupt until Ineos go.

Against global supermarkets? Disrupt until Lidl Trek leave

Etc

Etc
This is a mass protest aimed at a team by locals ...a first one of 40 years of cycle sport . It's not one stage with some farmers on the tour or something a miner getting punched by hinault
... This is SPAIN including the government suggesting IPT f**k off .
I don't see a massive movement against snap flooring or Value supermarkets spreading . It's a poor argument

Who thinks the Spanish state should deploy police violence on mass so we can watch IPT contest the odd break or top 10 GC position against the wish of the people who pay for the police and roads. ?

Ethan Vernon has a decent chance on stage 19 and 21 ... should be worth losing the goodwill of an entire nation for the reasonable chance Ethan wins in Madrid protected by a wall of riot police ...if there's any trouble baton those protesters back behind the finishing straight barriers . That'll learn them . They're not stopping our sport on their streets genocide or no genocide . Our entitlement to watch unimpeded sport on their roads trumps all concerns they have ..including the discomfort of having IPT race on them for vanity of a ( repeatedly ) pro genocide Israeli billionaire.

If your for or against the demonstrations is kinda aside the point . What's your solution.

  • Planting a shitton of PEDs in the IPT hotel and bus and then giving an anonymous tip-off.
  • Giving the IPT riders Derek Gee's mobile number so they can ring him and learn how he got out of his contract.
  • Staging one of those bike robberies that have become popular recently (find out which teams will lend them new bikes...)
  • A lasagne from Spurs caterers
  • Dropping several tons of US munitions on their hotel because of reports that hummus was in the buffet (sorry, we may have misheard..)
  • Filling the IPT musettes with Gaza rations
  • Controlling IPT riders paperwork every time they pass through any race port (official start, intermediate sprint, KOMs, 10km, 5km to go, flamme rouge etc.)

Fairly amusing, these protests have really ruined it for me. Hope it stops for next years GT’s Isreal will have captured half of the Middle East by then.

The stage they shortened to 3km was on the main national TV news bulletins in Belgium and France. I bet it was in some others too.

Outside the UK the "cycling fraternity" is pretty big. It's definitely big news here, but then we've got Vingegaard in red and Mads in green so that's to be expected
