Gall screwed up there I think. Used his team, then decided to try and follow Pogacar, got 20" or so on the rest and looked at 50km solo with his team burnt off

Fair play to them for trying to make it a race but really, what were they thinking?

The EF lad is doing well considering he only turned pro last week so he could ride the Vuelta.

Wonder if he hoped he could cut a deal to ride with Pog?
If you look at the race ignoring Pog then it looked fine, until he was tempted to try and follow. They had numbers, they were shaking out domestiques, putting people under pressure, that's all fine. It was just way too early to attack from it - especially if You're Felix Gall and your descending (though improved) is still a touch on the wobbly side.

Just looked him up - he was in the dev squad, but raced quite a few races this year with the main team - Occitanie, Volta Algarve, Copa Bartali, Tour of the Alps - not the biggest races but tend to have some decent riders in. This is his first WT though. And he's 22, so still older than some of the Wünderkind we see nowadays
