Can't help but thinking that without Lindsay De Wilder in the breakaway, they might have had a chance of being allowed to go all the way to the finish. I know he isn't a serious GC contender, but could be looking for a day or two in red.

Ah, a classics guy.

He's trying to talk himself down a bit, he might not yet be as fast as Philipsen, Merlier, Milan, Kooij etc in a pure sprint, but he can climb better than Pedersen & outsprint him, so those "perfect for Mads*" stages are absolutely made for him.

I wouldn't put too much weight on beating Mads P though, his legs have clearly gone post-Tour. He's having a blinding Vuelta though, chapeau to him.

Danish coms currently talking about him & Wout and what Visma should be doing about that - a suggestion that they ride one of these sprínts for Wout instead of Brennan one day, just to keep him happy, though that's shot down with they should ride for whoever's best. Wout's allowed his pick of the breaks of course.
