I saw stage 19 winner Eddie Dunbar was DNF on Stage 20. Apparently he crashed and broke a collarbone Thought that win might have got him a place in the Irish team for the Worlds.

Live report from our correspondent in Granada... (My non-cycling fan sister just happens to be there in a holiday apartment very close to the finish line!)

She says that there are lots of police gathering there already. They have assault rifles, gas masks, etc. Hopefully, this is just a standard precaution and they they don't have warning of some potential outrage!

Sis and her friend had booked a flamenco afternoon but they say that it is almost impossible to get anywhere in Granada today so they will stay in and try to take photos of the race from their balcony instead.

She isn't into cycling at all but is finding the atmosphere very exciting. I told her to watch out for a skinny little guy in a red jersey getting mobbed!

I will be watching the highlights later and keeping an eye open for two English women waving from a balcony.

The final lap to be neutralised as once again the riders get their way. This time it’s pretty evident that there isn’t justification, or else measures could have been taken at anytime since the route was announced, nine months ago.
So, for the second consecutive edition, the Vuelta ends with a whimper, rather than a bang, as was envisaged.

Oh well, I won’t be watching again, given there’s a much better option.

You actually need to get the riders together to discuss it though, which is unlikely to happen until the race has started.
Personally, I think it's a bit harsh be so critical if the riders think there's a safety issue (elsewhere you called them prima donnas) - they put their lives on the line regularly for our entertainment and we talk constantly about how we can improve safety, without much ever being done. But every time they do stand up for themselves there's moaning about the race being ruined.

News from the Danish riders:
Magnus Cort rides his last ever race today, and was presented with a special jersey by his hold to commemorate. He gave a little speech to his team were he was very emotional. I'd absolutely love it if he could get a result today, he's been great entertainment value over the years - his hotel reviews on insta were fantastic and his race diaries in Danish were great as well. Hopefully there's one last helicopter..

Skjelmose was also interviewed, after he lost 25 minutes on the winner yesterday. He's knackered, he's been ill, and links the two. He's pulling out of the Worlds (absolutely justified, he'd be useless like this) and may be ending his season. Says he just wants to go home and go to bed!

He'll most likely be replaced by Anthon Charmig, who's already in Canada and getting decent results (3rd in GP Quebec)

Have you seen or read anything specific as to what the riders concerns are?
The only thing I have read is a post suggesting that the penultimate descent may be a bit more technical than the rest.
Anyhow, if they are going to race the other laps, but not the final lap, it’s a head scratcher.
