My wife has also caught the cycling bug, either that or she just wants to keep an eye on me ! I am looking for recommendations for an easy 'starter' bike that gives her a relaxed riding position yet will allow her to venture out on the roads of Yorkshire with me. Although retired she is fit and active going to the gym everyday. Ideally the budget should be no more than £500.

I don't see why not, unless she is over the weight limit for the bike. Specialized have a concept store in harrogate, might be worth a visit

The £400 and £500 one have a triple

Personally I would only get a bike with a carbon fork, but I have history of elbow problems and the roads around here are appalling
