Brilliant, looking forward to seeing this. Did not think anyone would challenge Mark’s record for a while. Brilliant that she is.
Think it works out to require an average of at least 228 miles per day.
Mental!!Well solid so far, averaging 20 mph ~ 12 hour riding days.
Mark Beaumont got the record by riding solo round the world. Lael is riding it supported . There is no Guinness solo and supported records. Its just the fastest time. Even before she starts, if Lael gets in quicker than Mark Beaumonts 78 days, it will not be considered to be the same achievement and its not. But thats the fault of Guinness and not Lael. Lael will be the fastest person around the world.
It would be interesting to know if Mark would put a supported effort in if Lael gets the record.

She actually finished the first day on 452.5km / 281 miles / really rather a lot.So, timing-wise, much more like Beaumont's sixteen hour moving days than her previous circuit, when she did twelve each day.
Oh absolutely. Yesterday's weather was described as 'perfect', so certainly a day to go further from the perspective of an observer. I was only musing on it since, prior to starting, she's been somewhat non-committal, at least in things I've read and seen, about whether she'd stick with actually doing her 240 day average or whether she'd go beyond that when the going was good. Clearly, she is taking the latter approach.Likely to be days when the going is not so good, bad weather, poor roads, or not feeling well. Makes sense to bank some extra when the going is good. As long as she is able to recover for the next day.

The slide deck on that Komoot web page is also interesting.
