Smash the cistern
Anybody know anything about Lam brakes?

I picked up an old Peugeot yesterday, took the front brake apart to give it a clean and a dab of grease, but the nut which holds the spring disintegrated in my hand. Is there anywhere that does spares or NOS? How does their numbering system work, mine are I think 55-77, I've seen some 49-72 on ebay, would they be OK? Is it drop length or something?

Or would a nut from anothe manufacturer be alright, and does that nut have a specific name?

You appear correct on the numbering system. Every other brake, I've checked, seems to have used a thicker nut where the spring is held in it.

I've put a bid on the 49-72s. Probably just use the nut out of them, although I am a bit concerned that they might all disintegrate in the same way, given their age.
