rents do vary drastically from landlord to landlord and estate agents. one 2up2down will be 450pcm, and next door could be 650pcm

the main employers are the universities (we have two) and the NHS, but other than that, i'm not sure... fair bit of warehousing going and call centres, phone bashing and the like.

Best bet is to do job search on direct gov in the Lancaster area and have a nosey. If you're close the train station in Lancaster, then Preston is also an option as it's only 15mins away.

Don't forget that you're not far from Heysham for ferries to the IOM, which has some splendid cycling.

I'd never noticed that ferry route. I must go for a mini-break on the IoM with my bike once I'm feeling better and have a bit of cash to spare!

yes... I keep toying with the idea of doing an IOM tour... went there in about '83ish to watch the Manx Stages Rally, it was nice.
