Lance Armstrong ends fight against doping charges - will be stripped of Tour de France wins

I've skimmed it. he has tested, retested and tested again until he found a tiny trace of a hormone. If you test for something often enough you'll find it. In any event who hangs on to samples of piss for six years. I'm still not impressed by these allegations.
Like I said some people just resent success.

Although it is a very unpopular fact, there is actually no knowledge of how the various EPO recombinants change over time. It is really not possible to validate whether testing an old blood sample is able to give a valid result

The 'who are they going to give the titles to now though' question is largely irrelevant imho. It's certainly a secondary issue and one that doesn't prevent Armstrong from being stripped of the titles. I think most recognise that the era was tainted but the important thing is to note is that not everyone doped. Punishing dopers is necessary to protect those that play by the rules.

Many people speed in their cars. Is that reason not to prosecute those that do?

Of course not, but neither is it reason to reward equally guilty speeders that pay up and keep quiet. Speeding is speeding no matter how loudly or not you protest.

I will echo much oF what Mickle has said, apart from the stopping loving the sport.

These cheats need booting out.

Too many links to dodgy practices within specific teams he was with. Thought for a long time he wasn't cheating, but there was too much dirt coming out of the wash.

Fecking ruins the sport.

I think there are a few twists yet, I will keep final judgement until USADA release their evidence. If it's a video of Lance shooting up then fair enough, if it's just a couple of bitter blokes saying he did it too, then nothing is proven. The truth of course lies somewhere in between and none of us outside the investigation yet know what that might be.

Does anyone really give a flying f*** ?? I mean really?

Armstrong is out of the game now. It is all history and nothing, NOTHING any committee, governing body, association, doctor, forum member or bloke down the pub says about it will change things.
Sure, it looks like he probably doped, maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I don't know and nor does anyone here.
I really don't care in the same way I don't care that Mr Smith down the local sweet shop pocketed £10 from the till back in 1981. (allegedly)

what if 'Mr Smith' had become a multi-millionaire' on the back of investing that tenner and was now presenting himself to the world as a model of virtue and honesty..?? I bet you'd have something to say then...

Yes fair point. But it's still yesterday's news.

What amuses me is that one of the arguments was that USADA were outside their jurisdiction.

They now claim to have stripped home of the Tour de France Titles, when they have no jurisdiction.... the claim to have done so is unfounded

The UCI and The Amaury Sport Organization, which runs the Tour de France, and the International Olympic Committee have said they would not comment until hearing from both the UCI and USADA. Only these groups can actually remove the titles!

The USADA is playing straight into Armstrong's hands, making such claims. They are going to appear vindictive, ill-advised and incapable

Have the ASO said anything ?

Richard Branson got started by smuggling records in a van. Most people think a lot of him.

They are waiting to hear what UCI say.

And UCI say they are waiting to see USADAs evidence before reaching a decision. WADA has backed USADA though.

I think this is likely to get very very messy from here on in and Travis Tygart may well end up regretting his actions.
