sound advise regarding writing memories down and getting in touch with witnesses - thank you. i'm struggling to speak now due to the contition of my mouth. i'll have the stitches removed from my lip and chin next wednesday, maybe swelling will go away by that time as well. tomorrow - another visit to fracture clinic to reassess the condition of my elbow.
my wife has come from bristol yesterday to guide me around hospitals and cook some straw-friendly food (what an angel) - at least i'm well fed and stocked up with necessities, as she's gone back to work in bristol last night.

Just seen this; what rotten luck!

I am sure it would have just happened in a flash and you were on the ground before you could think about it.

I am more wary of being hit by another cyclist than I am of motor vehicles - apart from possibly tipper trucks. I've personally had two incidents in the last couple of years (both in Hyde Park) where a cyclist has made to turn right from the left hand side of the lane without giving any warning. The first time, he saw me at the last minute and stopped the manoeuvre and the second time he just glanced my back wheel with his front, so he fell off, not me. I've also seen two bike-on-bike collisions in the last 18 months, both within a few yards of me and where one of the parties simply didn't look.

Just yesterday I was going on some unfamiliar cycle paths in London on my way home and some of the other cyclists made me feel that I couldn't wait to get back on to the safety of the road and predictability of motor vehicles!

What others say about getting the ball rolling with talking to a solicitor sounds like good advice - although not what you will feel like doing at the moment.

Apologies for the levity, but I have vision of you poking single strands of cooked spaghetti up a straw...

The fact that you have broken teeth - ooh heck.. nasty.

No idea what you do with an idiot on a bike - most aren't insured. Hence why we are deemed road scum by drivers.

Ouch... hate thinking about teeth. My bro is a very good dentist BTW ! :becool:

Ouch, hope you recover quickly. I winced just thinking about broken teeth!

The fact it's going to cost you a fortune to have your teeth fixed makes it worth legally sorting it out - dental work isn't cheap and you weren't at fault. I'm not suggesting you sue him for everything he has, but you could easily be out £500+ in dental bills. Make sure you sort out your repairs on your bike too - it can be replaced, but if it's somebody else's fault, it should be on their dime, not your own.

Rimas, I'm sorry to hear you're in such a bad state. You take care- Becs' suggestion is a sound one.
The information officers should be able to put you in contact with the right people. Email them and explain why you're not able to talk - are you a member?

things are getting better, facial and mouth swelling is settling, i can speak understandably now and eat blender-processed normal food!

i have a ctc affiliate membership via "the fridays", i've checked ctc website regarding legal advice and they say:
"The CTC Legal Advice Scheme is available to all individual members of CTC except Affiliated Members. It is not available to Affiliated Organisations."

i'll still ring them up tomorrow to see if i can get any assistance or guidance. thanks again each and everyone for wishing me well.
