We got rid of the landline phone many years ago, we've still got the landline but only for the broadband.

I'm far too lazy to get out of the armchair to answer some tit on the landline.
Spare me the porkies, Rich. I happen to know that your Lay Z Boy recliner has an integral corded phone....

Still use ours all the time, my mobile had £10 PAYG credit when I bought it 21 months ago and still has over a fiver left on it.

I tried to get rid of my landline and my TV package. The phone has been unplugged for months and we watch tv so infrequently we don't bother having the set top box plugged in. I called Virgin and said I wanted to cancel the phone and telly. My bill each month was around £80. Eventually they agreed to ditch the phone and telly package and reduce my bill to £40 a month. One day before the shut off date they rang me and asked if I'd like to keep the phone and telly package but just pay £1 a month for them. So I said yes. Bonkers.

I still use it for anything requiring a phone number. Deliveries, NHS, everything. I don't pay a monthly charge, just usage, which is very little. I simply don't give out my mobile to everyone and as slomo says, the quality of a mobile call is often very poor.
