I have seen the aftermath of someone attempting to refill a toner cartridge.
Even worse, they tried to clean up all the spilled toner with a vacuum cleaner...

That would need a special vacuum that takes a cartridge. I take it that wasn't the case here.

If buying toner/ink cartridges off ebay make sure they are proper retail ones and not ones that should only be sold with new printers. Those ones have less ink/toner which is why some printers cost much the same as the replacement cartridges.
