FWIW that fount of knowledge Wiktionnaire says that ailleurs is "Plutôt que directement issu du latin aliorsum, de *in aliore loco*aliore est une forme comparative de alius (« autre ») → voir superior, inferior et altior."

I also found out that, if you go back far enough, it is related to English 'else'.

Just saying, like - it's probably best not to bog this thread down too far with Indo-European etymologies :whistle:

Snap! I got alias wrong too. I studied Latin for seven years from age seven. I hated every minute of it.
