Or ask on here.

I need to change my cheap electric hover mower (motor knackered) for a new one. Was wondering whether to get another hover or go for a rotary mower.

Any opinions?

or a cylinder mower for lovely stripes. ^_^

I had a flymo and changed to a small electric rotary mower and I wouldnt go back to the flymo. The rotary is much better is long wet grass.

But they do.
My gardener advised me to heighten the blade stack on my hover mower as I was cutting the grass too low allowing moss to grow.

You can stop moss growing? :bravo:

Raking the moss, not watering the grass too much and allowing the grass to grow a little longer keep's the moss at bay...so according to my gardener, and perhaps Dayvo can confirm.

I am very proud of my lawn, though not sure what the new neighbours think of their next door neighbour on the lawn on his hands and knees crawling up and down digging out any small weed or moss.

...raking? watering?... weeding? This is all too much Ian. How do find the time to cycle?

You need to get out on your bike more. :bicycle:

He sounds like a right weirdo!

Well that's probably not far from the truth.

Now my new neighbours and their gardens (both front and rear). The previous neighbours used to keep their gardens really nice. Lawn mowed, flower beds hoed and kept clear of weeds. The Apple tree trimed.
But the new neighbours, nice people though they are. Have yet to do anything in the garden (s), and they have been there now for 6 months. Weeds are getting long and seeding. :cursing:. I have spoken over the fence to the neighbours the other side of my immediate neighbours and they are not happy of the unkempt garden(s) either.

May have to have a word.

You can't beat the sight of a newly cut lawn using a heavy cyclinder mower, however I use a petrol rotary for ease of use.

I use this to deal with moss

And for extra green lawns you can buy Urea (there is a slightly cheaper alternative!).
