I snapped the rear gear cable on the way to work and obviously the the chain dumped itself on to the smallest cog right in the middle on the steepest uphill bit of my commute....... so I dropped it to the small chain ring and put up with the slight grating until I could move it back on to the big ring........

When I got to work I put in an S.O.S call to my LBS.....

I explained my problem and said if they hadn't got time could they drop me a cable over (on my own in a shop) and I would do it, but the adjusting would've have been a pain as I had limited space, no stand and errr.... work to do.......

Don't worry we will pick it up and fix it for you...... the charge? £7.50....bargain a retail packed cable must be 3 to 4 quid

Cheers James of Lloyds cycles Swadlincote

Yes Lloyds are great , i bought a new cable set , 2 inners + 2 outers for £7 along with ferrules etc as although mine had not snapped all the road gunk from all that rain friday had gunked up the shifting so i re cabled + regreased the rear wheel .
£7.50 for lets say 15 mins of work including a reindex and cable is worth it imho .

Trying to fit and adjust the gears in between phone calls and customers would have been a nightmare.... so £7.50 fitted was great
