Leaf blower season

It's nearly that time of year when fools waste time blowing piles of leave around ! I pass a very large house on my commute where the gardener spends most autumn morning blowing leaves and dirt all over the road,I hate leaf blowers !

My dad recently bought an Aldi one for my Mum to use. She will be using it as a leaf vacuum to save picking up the leaves with a small grab. I doubt she could carry it long enough to make much difference.

We just rake or sweep ours up and stick them on the bonfire. We've done this since we were kids and sweeping up leaves in our parents back gardens. Can't see the point in employing technology when a good broom or rake will do.

I have just witnessed virtual leaf blowing.
A council employee is meticulously using a leaf-blower to remove fallen leaves from the pavement. Nothing out of the ordinary. Except, that on this road, the leaves haven't fallen of the trees yet. And the pavements are already clear!

We never used to use one, we just used the lawn mover instead (petrol one). Not only did it collect them all in one convenient location, it shredded them so the decompsed so much faster once in the compost bin (think pallets here) Seemed so much easier, but then we had only lawn and more lawn and no tarmac/paved areas...

^^^ I use our lawn mower to pick up the hedge clippings and all the dead leaves from the grass, the path and the drive [set on high- I'm not that daft!].
