Staying in Leeds next Saturday (at Novotel), fancy curry. Recommendations?
Tharavaradu (sp.) seems to fare well on Tripadvisor, any one been?

Also, food/pub recommendations for Harrogate for Friday night (staying at Crowne Plaza)?

You might want to consider a pizza or Chinese after reading this:

My Thai, Wade Lane is excellent food, really authentic Thai Street food, a bit more cafe than restaurant but cool, great atmosphere and cheap.

For Harrogate try William & Victoria Cold bath road, great atmosphere, very busy, not cheap but excellent. The bar bit is always busy. You could also try The Fat Badger just down the road for a drink.

Prefer somewhere with meat and fish choices but thanks for the recommendations

I'd spotted Akbars but looked like quite a standard menu. The other place looked more interesting

I vaguely remember Hansas from my Leeds uni days in the early 90s

Speaking from experience, the combination of early 90s Leeds students + beer + last orders was usually followed by a curry at Nafees.
You probably shouldn't take that as any form of recommendation.

If it was date night, then Salvos (Italian) or Jumbo (Chinese) were the better option.

None of that answers your question, sorry. Carry on.

Big fan of Mumtaz in Bradford. Have been going there for the last 25 years since it was the size of someone's front room rather than the glass and chrome empire it is now but the food is still just as good.
They have now opened a branch on the waterfront in Leeds. Have not had a chance to go there yet but I'm sure it will be just as good.

Ah, Nafees - that takes me back!
You have probably also sampled Theo's Kebabs. Classic food and abuse opposite the engineering building. Wonder if it is still there? (Theo's, not the engineering building!)

Can you stiil get a bowl of curry and a couple of chapattis for less than £2 in central Bradford?

We used to start with a couple of pints in the New Beehive in Manningham Lane, which looked to have been new in about 1910 and had gas candelabra, sawdust on the wood floor and about ten decent cask ales lined up along the bar.
