what a twunt driver.

I guess it's easier to have perspective when a cammer is videoing an event not involving themselves.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency though.

That's always been the case, two identical crimes committed in two different parts of the country can carry substantially different sentences. I was told Kent Police do not even consider helmet camera footage as an 'independent witness'. With no independent witness regardless of the footage they will not take the case up. I agree with you they need to deal with all incidents of this type in the same manner with the same punishments but that's never going to happen in an age of budget cuts and plastic police. It's just nice to see on this one and probably rare occasion something has been done above the drivers poor driving standards.

In this country its more about changing peoples opinions /way of life which is extremely difficult. Just today I come up to a bridge, my side had priority so I went across then a car come belting towards me and was going to try and squeeze past (at speed) so I moved into the centre of the road to stop him. He must of seen me half way across the bridge when he chose to try and squeeze past rather than stop as his side of the bridge is the side that should give way. The driver got out of the car in a rage and genuinely couldn't understand that a bike is a road vehicle. "Yeah mate but your on a bike". I'm sure he would be the first to complain if I went through a red light . Until people are educated and views change we are never going to make big progress for cyclists IMO.

I'm sure many of you will remember this post - http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/left-hook-on-cs7.109177/

Well the driver has been found guilty of careless driving, received 3 points, £200 fine, £140 court costs and £15 victim surcharge.

Well done Gaz.

Helmet or halo?

I had to ride down Hills Rd in Cambridge on tuesday, albeit in the bus lane. I was crapping myself as it is pretty busy lots of side roads with cars emerging, ped crossings and peds crossing by jay walking, buses. Anyway going toward town, lady cyclist in front of me, Ortlieb flowery panniers, very nice, wasn't drafting her, Audi A3 decideds to suddenly veer into bus lane to pass by stationary traffic up ahead behind which the Audi car would have had to stop. Just like the cyclist in your footage she was very nearly felled, swerved toward kerb to avoid being hit, but wasn't as I had my finger on my Airzound button which I sounded immediately I saw the Audi start to cut into bus lane. The driver swerved back out of the bus lane just before colliding with cyclist and just stopping in time to avoid rear ending the stationary traffic in front. Further up at the lights with Lensfiled road the lady cyclist turned round to me asked if I saw what just happened. I said I had. She was pretty shook up. She asked who had blown the horn. I said me. She thanked me very much as she said it stopped the car driving into her. I agreed it would have indeed done so had I not used my horn. She asked me what the make my horn was, how much and where to get one. Airzound 3, £19.99, CRC website, fill it using a normal bike pump.

Anyway well done Gaz.
