Well done for following through Gaz, and a decent result.

I worked with the girl involved (I've since moved company) - I passed on the details you provided to me months back, but evidently she didn't follow it up (I have no idea why not). Good to see the prosecution could still take place even without her coming forward. I've dropped her an email with the link to your site so that she's aware.

It was the Merc that beeped wasn't it?
The scooter rider behind me was the one that beeped.

That is a good result, though I am worried about where that cyclist was going without indication

Along the cycle path perhaps? She only need indicate if she is turning left. Sure her position isn't strong but certainly not punishable by death.

Fair point, I wasnt sure if the road follows the bend as well as carries straight on, I couldnt make out which direction the cyclists was going was all. No excuse for the driver like.

Still it highlights one of the many problems of this junction. Which is featured in a lot of cam incidents. Lots of cyclists don't know how to handle it.

I posted one only yesterday. Where a cyclist is let down by a motorist and their own faith in strips of paint but ultimately the cyclist shows himself to be a bit of a prat.

In that regard I felt that gas gaz* was a little late to the road position party. But he may well have been signalling & not found a spot to pull out.

* damn it you stupid auto correct gaz is correct...

I signaled ( I think that is clear in the original video but i cropped this one down to remove the black bars from the side, so it is out of view) and yes I was waiting for a gap to move over, i could see the taxi was going a bit too quick for me to be in front of it and I was going to slot it behind.

The above incident wasn't referred to the CPS. Police took NFA.
You never really got in front of the car to take the lane and the driver was not prepared to hang back to let you through. There was a reasonable gap behind the problem car that would have let you take the lane. I'm not surprised the police did what they did.

btw - well done to Gaz.

I'm sure many of you will remember this post - http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/left-hook-on-cs7.109177/

Well the driver has been found guilty of careless driving, received 3 points, £200 fine, £140 court costs and £15 victim surcharge.

More details about the work the police did and what changes happened at the company - http://www.croydoncyclist.co.uk/rx11axp-result/

Good result and a VERY lucky escape for that cyclist!

I wonder what the £15 is for though? Seems a very random, small amount...

Am replying without looking at the rest of the thread but I was a 'little' surprised that the cyclist did not envisage this issue? Presuming a commuter - and road aware, I would have expected a signal or 'life saver'. At the very least!

The driver was totally guilty but this is a situation that MAY have been avoided.... possibly not, but we should assume the worst and then be proved wrong. Sorry.
