Serb style: last time I was in Serbia I was driving in the countryside with my agent; both of us starving hungry because we'd been working all morning. We kept passing restaurants with big spit roasts outside, some cooking whole lamb. Eventually we stopped for some roast lamb so we sat down with a glass of chilled rosé and waited with anticipation. I was looking forward to the full roast with vegetables or at least rice when along came... a basket of dry bread and a pile of cold greasy lamb! Looking around me it seemed completely normal so I said nothing and carried on eating it cold, but what a disappointment!
