Legwarmers and socks - sartorial advice

Finally gave in and dug out the legwarmers for the 1st time this year on Sunday.

However I spent the whole ride and the rest of the day wondering whether I should have tucked my warmers into my socks, or pulled them over the top?

I did ask the Mrs but it seemed to confuse her a bit as she could only shake her head and roll her eyes.

So was wondering what is the general consensus - socks under or over and do they have to match?

Not that I have any strong feelings on the matter.

Always try to wear a matching pair of socks, they don't have to match the legwarmers though.

BTW the ALDI legwarmers are excellent!

Wear them over, thus covering the socks and making moot the point about matching the colour!

From a style point of view, I would say socks over leg warmers.

From a practical point of view, it has to be leg warmers over socks - so that when it starts raining, the leg warmers act as gaiters to stop the water running down into your socks. Likewise, you ought to wear leg warmers/tights over your overshoes, though this is usually not possible, especially if the overshoes are bulky.

Cycling ones or the much cooler stripy woolly ones of the Fame! Type?

I assume the latter as this is the cafe and not general cycling

Deffo over socks I reckon although I mostly wear knee warmers on quick rides with just Belgian booties or overshoes if it's particularly wet or cold or both.Mostly keep the full leg warmers or tights for the commutes.

Moot point, if its cold enough for leg warmers then the overshoes are on too. If its warmer then leg warmers unzipped and rolled up as knee warmers.
Tucking leg warmers into socks would look odd, no wonder the Mrs shook her head and rolled her eyes.

Tights / leg warmers over the socks, for the same reason that you don't tuck your jeans into your socks in street clothes. It looks dreadful.

Leg warmers tend to be over socks and under shorts so they don't slip down.

Arm warmers are under jersey sleeves for the same reason.

But then you're welcome to ignore me as in no way am I a style or fashion guru.

Ive always worn arm warmers over jersey sleeves, you learn something every day.
