Tomorrow marks the start of the season in which we contemplate Christ's 40 days and nights fasting (despite the number 40 being somewhat dubious).

A lot of us seem to be having pancakes today ( I hope in an effort to use up the last of the eggs, milk and flour before fasting ). So I ask, more importantly than what are you having on your pancakes, what will you be attempting to sacrifice over the period of lent?
I managed chocolate a few years ago and I think I'll go for chocolate and biscuits this year. In the spirit of shrove Tuesday I'll be raiding the chocolate biscuit tin today to use up the last of them before the fast.

I wish I had just one, all I can do now is raise a smile and nothing else

I gave up my car for lent once. Sold it on Shrove Tuesday, and didn't buy another one for several months afterwards.

Don't want to do something minor now - it has to be significant. Like meat, electricity, heating, cash, television, or something of that ilk. Any ideas?

Can't do bicycle, as I wouldn't be bearable to live with for that long.
