When making a purchase, open the box in the shop before leaving.

I decided it was time I purchased a new camera. So after work I went off and with the assistance of a very helpful member of staff purchased a camera. I just opened the box and basically I have just paid £107 for a battery, cable and recharger. No camera in the box!! I can only assume this box is for the display camera.

The staff should have checked it.
Ring them first thing in the morning or pop back in. I had something similar which happened in Glasgow, and they stuck it in the post for me to save me getting the train back to the shop.

Ha ha! This happened to me once, though in my case it was a phone. Bought from an out of town shopping place that I'd visited with a friend and didn't have a way to get back to easily. Shop were a bit arkward about getting the phone to me, buggers!

I've only just opened it so will contact them tomorrow but I expect I will have to go back with the box tomorrow which is a bit inconvenient.

"Ha ha, nice try sonny but we're not falling for that old one. Now bugger off before we call the police".
That would be my worry, especially in this day and age.

Let us hope that the shop realise their mistake and do give you a camera!

That did cross my mind but I suspect they can do a stock check, at least that's what I am hoping. I always pay for anything over £100 with my credit card because I once read if there is a problem they will step in and sort it, so worse case scenario is that I hand the problem over to them.

Sounds expensive for a Practika, even with the camera...
Now now. I had a fabulous Practika set up (Inbetween my beloved Canons) as it was what I could afford at the time and that Praticka was bombproof and worth every single penny. I dropped it once, down a cliff and it was fine. It bounced a few times and had a soft landing in the middle of someone's picnic spread. It had a couple of dings on it but it still took great pics. It didn't break.
