I now have a nice new shiny Lidl bike stand.
Allow me to explain that we are fortunate in having a 2nd lounge/sunroom.........that happens to have a new carpet.
I think my wife is being very unreasonable..........please tell me you agree (and surely it can't be me!)
I want to put the stand in the 2nd lounge. I have even said that once it is screwed down I will paint over the screws to match the carpet-well, with the nearest match I have in the shed.
She (as in my wife of 44 years) is adamant that I cannot put it in that room EVEN FREE STANDING.
This is my first ever bike stand for my new & equally shiny bike..........surely this is grounds for divorce.
I want to show her that I have the full support from all CC members (especially from the fairer sex) and hopefully she will back down......so please show your support in my hour of need.
Thank you.

I'm afraid in our house it's my husband who has to put up with bike stands in the lounge or in our case the dinning room. We're total heathens and the dinning table only gets set up once a year at Christmas so it seems like quite a waste not to use it for other things during the rest of the year.

P.S. I did just ask two other ladies this question in my office and they are as horrified at the suggestion as your wife was. I'm now wondering if i'm just weird!

Just turn it upside down and bolt it to the ceiling.

you idiot  all you had to do was stick a lampshade on it as you smuggled it in and she would have been none the wiser - light nights so no need to prove it works - yourve missed a good chance - the missus might have even threw you a biscuit for accessorising
