life changer ?

53 years old , no mortgage , wife, grown up son , so no real commitments, after debts setlled have about 10 grand . Wondering wether to pack my job in and go touring on the continent for a few months as ive always wanted .


just the coming back and getting work im thinking about, any views welcome , constructive please

It sounds like an excellent thing to do. However, if you need to work when you come back I'd suggest trying to sort something out first. I know a few 50-odd year-olds who have had difficulty finding work because the companies didn't think they'd be there for long, only to appoint graduates who took a lot of training and then left in three years

Perhaps your current employer would give you unpaid leave? Always worth asking.

thought about sabbatical but dont think theyd wear that as a major sponsor of prime time tv evening advertising ! thats why it thought about , severing all ties and coming coming back virginlike lol x

Just go for it, I've recently visited Pompeii and Herculaneum, two places that have been on my must see list for years, it's a wonderful feeling ticking places of a list like that, like you my kids have flown the nest and the mortgages are paid, I had a payout from a pension and for the first time I could afford to go.
