...one of life's guilty pleasures....farting under the duvet, then diving in for a whiff. The only smelly fart is not your own...It's so wrong, it's come all the way round to the right side...

Lived in Oldham a long time, married a local girl and I love my fish and chips, neither I nor Mrs SB nor her 84 year old father who has only ever lived away from Oldham for his national service have ever seen or heard of this. God alone knows where your sis took you but none of us have ever encountered this weird phenomenon.
Are you sure your from Manchester and not London? The place where they don't appreciate white bait andl life^_^

Should have been a Riesling or summat, but we had none.
Riesling is good for Asian food, but for Fish and Chips, Picpoul de Pinet is the perfect accompaniment. Fresh and dry and just enough acidity to cut through the grease.

And by the way, if Patrick invites us for one of his soirées, can you say that I'm washing my hair?

Which one?

Personally, I'd go for a good Vinho Verde, or maybe a Kiwi sauvignon blanc. Depends if you're having vinegar on it really - vinegar and wine really don't play well together.
If you drown your F&C in vinegar, then probably lager, or bitter, or even Irn Bru is your best bet.

Crumpsall, and I am sure I am not the only one who has lived in Crumpsall. Of curse ypu posh people!!

Slightly OT, sorry MB, but this made me laugh.

This thread is is great for firsts, being called posh for coming from Oldham. Most people hide the valuables or make up food parcels when I say where I live

You can always tell a posh Oldhamer because they'd rather admit to being a wife beater, a cannibal, a Gary Glitter fan or apparently put gravy on a fish than mention the O word in their address.

Back on topic a bit @DaveReading I got caught out by a very gutteral Scottish 'salt and sauce' offer in a chippy in Haddington near Edinburgh on an early Scotland visit, it wasn't nice.
