I recently celebrated my 80th birthday and decided to cut down on the driving and return to local cycling to get some regular light exercise and have some fun. Although I don’t really need a folding bike, I settled on one to provide that option should I ever feel the need. There are some nice circular routes near me and I am limiting my early rides to around an hour (12 miles) on most days both to regain my confidence in traffic and not overdo the physical stress. I’m really enjoying it and love that slight aching in my thighs after a ride which will hopefully mean the leg muscles are getting stronger.
There is so much information covering all aspects of cycling available on this forum that should keep me up to date and well informed.

Try to avoid roads if you can. Cycle paths or trails if well surfaced or canal paths can be good. 80? Fantastic. Maybe think about using a train to get you to a point you can cycle to/from

The good thing with folder is that you can put it in the car and drive out so you can ride in new areas.

Welcome.
Brilliant plan. It'll help your fitness, help with carbon emissions and most of all offer a chance to look around and get closer to nature.
Apart from walking you won't find a better way of getting off the roads and pavements and into green spaces.
I was 83 this month and it's my biggest pleasure .
