They are great for unlit roads

It arrive today and it looks and feels very well made. I charged it for the 6 hours recommended (green light come on after only 3) and have just tried it in the back garden. I don't know if I was expecting something as bright as the sun but I was a bit underwhelmed. I'll try it against my 300 lumen lenser torch later as there is a lot to be said for come and lense design and materials, not just the LED

Battery lights - B & M Ixon premium and ixxi for well lit streets and to make the legalists happy.

Moon xpower 600 and Dinotte 300 to see and be usefully seen. To be fair, the Ixon is fine on straight unlit roads - where I have problems is sharp bends - I find the xpower's wider beam useful there.

I do think though that 1000 lumen is over the top for road riding, and a couple of self contained lights is lots neater as well.

I found that the 1000 lumen setting is my preferred option all round really for my routes. Only used the high setting descending, and there's no doubt it was useful if not necessary for me.

I almost bought the Cateye nano shot plus, the only thing really putting me of was the battery life, as i know with its output it would be on Max all the time. When I go out for a ride I don't plan a route. Sometimes, I go out for an hours ride and gone further than expected and maybe been out for 2hrs. Just nice knowing that having that battery pack will be suffice for anything I'll want to do and not being a limiting factor. No doubt that a self contained is neater and a better solution for most though...

I have a cateye volt.Part of my commute is on unlit cyclepaths and its great for that.On the lit roads I have it on the nanoshot mode.Which is more than adequate.Battery life is pretty good.
