Has anyone ever had a bike stolen when using a FAGH or something similar?

As well as a good lock, you need to lock it properly - fill a 'D' with as much bike/stand as possible - no locking top tube to a sheffield - fill it with the bike.

I can lock to most sheffield stands with a mini lock, but a number at work are too close to a wall, so I can't get the rear brake bridge in-line easily - takes a bit of a faff, but there are no gaps for a car mini jack.

What's wrong with D-locking the bike's top-tube to a Sheffield stand?

Leaves too much open and exposed lock - a little bottle jack could easily be inserted and it's bike gone.

Lock through rear triangle as tight as possible to the sheffield, or through near BB with a crank to fill space

Sheldon's method
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/lock-strategy.html

I lock mine near the brake bridge as I'm using a mini lock - very short and it's a tight fit. Longer locks I'd use Sheldon's, and make sure a crank is in the way as well, or lock near the rear hub through both stays

Great - it's sort of secure, but you can also lock the rear wheel as well doing the other method and using the vertical sides of the Sheffield stand. Most bikes I see are locked top tube to stand, but the lock if floppy and easy to manipulate - ideal for croppers and jacks. Lock close to the frame and tight, this makes it really difficult. Well unless some bugger has a portable diamond angle grinder and TIME.
