I got mine from Ebay last year. Sent from Hong Kong for about £1.50 including p&p or something equally silly. LED ones. White for front and red for back. Brilliant!

Shall I do this again this year?

Got a set of 20 battery-powered lights from Poundland today (they're not going on the bike until a bit nearer Christmas, though!). They had a few colours: all blue, all red and multicoloured (I went for the multicoloured). I think they'll look quite nice - not sure where exactly to put them on the bike yet, but they'll probably end up attached to the rack as that's easiest.

Not sure what to do in the rain though - what do others with this type of light do, have them attached so that they can be removed easily (I'm thinking cable ties, which would make this difficult...) or stick a bag or something over them when it rains? I'm guessing they aren't waterproof...

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question, but can I ask how much they were?

Hey - not everything in poundland costs one pound!

I have somehow ended up with a spare 12v Li-ion battery, so I took a punt on some "Type R" car strobe lights from China of EBay which actually arrived today.

I just did a quick test and they are great flashers, two strobe bulbs one flashes three times then the other and so on, the flash speed can also be varied. Although I will need to swap the blue covers for the white ones before I use them for real as the blue covers make them look just like Police lights. They do come with other colours, red, green, orange and pink.

Combined with all the forward facing lights I have already, if I actually turned them all on I would look like something out of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, just a little slower and closer to the ground.

Well, bought some Poundland Xmas lights and gonna try some Contralube on them for weatherproofing and see how it goes

Though been on the MTB today and prolly for the rest of the week, rather than the already-well decked out Country Explorer

Incidentally, Poundland have some of the little elastic-strap-on LED lights in, in both red and white...bought 2 of each for extra "bling" but be careful---the elastic does have a smapping point - don't try to stretch it around a head tube!

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question, but can I ask how much they were?

Quite - I once bought some Xmas lights from Poundland for £5 - sometimes they do have different priced things (insert Michael Caine mis-quote here)
