I can understand driverless cars, despite the odd inevitable failure once the system is perfected eliminating the possibility of driver error would drastically reduce road accidents. But electronic brakes on a bike have no advantage at all over cable or hydraulic systems. They would still need to be applied manually and make no improvement at all to a bikes ability to stop or the speed at which they can be applied. All they do is add a dangerous complication to replace something that already works as it should.

So this garden shed project is very clever and interesting, but completely dead in the water as a commercial concept.

Couples on tandems could outsource the brakes to their wife on the back

which reminds me
why does the woman of a standard couple always ride on the back
she is normally shorter so can;t easily see forward over him - I have seen this quite a few times
Couple on 2 bikes does that too.
2 couples together, 2 men ride ahead, 2 women follow.
.
In army drills they also put the tallest men at the front and the shortest at the back.

It's to avoid Trouble:

Electric brakes? They could be linked to your mapping device. A bit of AI would decide when to apply them.
What could possibly go wrong

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
I'm not sure, it looks more like a deliberate cut than a cable break. My money is on this being staged.

Doesn't look real to me. Its broken on a straight stretch and all the broken strands are the same length. Either it has been sabotaged or it's a set-up for clicks. Most likely the latter.
