Hi, got a question for the intelligent people on here.
I have a trip coming up and I think it falls into bit of a grey area, my car has to be serviced, mot’d and a few little bits doing. The issue is the garage that I have always used is 150miles away. Am I am still allowed to travel?
Now my head says yes as the car has to have an MOT and be serviced, and I have all my service history from this one garage as they are a specialist for my vehicle and it is running their performance upgrades so don’t really want anyone else playing around with it.
What’s the verdict?

Get it MOTd locally as that’s the time bound legal requirement and then have the service in June. A couple of months won’t matter if you want the service history

150 miles would be wrong in my opinion too, Dan. I think you could have a bit of leeway if it was 10 miles or so but not 150. There are people who haven't seen kids or parents for months who could travel 150 miles to see them but don't because we're all in the lockdown together and we could all find reasons to break it if we looked hard enough. As Vickster says, mot locally then serviced later.

The thing is my service is already overdue and I have pushed it back a number of weeks already and not happy to leave it any longer. Whether you agree with it or know i wondered what the legalities are as you are allowed an MOT and I haven’t seen any rules saying that had to be at your local garage. I did try and get the car transported there and back but that was too expensive

Get yourself a bike rack so you can take your bike....pack a picknick,no alcohol as you'll be driving home.Enjoy yourself, you deserve it.
Pretty sure you've made your mind up ?

So it's long overdue and you want to drive it a further 150mi for an oil and filter change.

Get a grip

It’s not long over due but enough. It’s not just a service as some other bits need looking at.
Now after spending about £15’000 in mods @ one garage I’d like to continue using them and only have them deal with any issues
