What about London Oxford Airport then?
I really, really hope you're not serious. As for Ryanair we know they are just like that. It's not the first time that their chosen airport has been in a different country. But Southend actually has London Southend written on it (I'm hoping against hope that there isn't a similar sign at London Oxford :banghead: )
Yep - it started as a SW London Commuters Curry night. For no other reason apart from me and Origamist wanting a beer and curry on the way home. So in the Spring of 2010 we did. Just the 2 of us. Nice romantic thing.

Last year we opened it up and we had about 12 people? Quite a few non-SW London commuters. I was a bit jealous as I wanted a quiet night out with Origamist, but there you go. This year, we knew loads more non-SWers were coming so we just changed the title. But in essence it's for SW Commuters. So organiser's prerogative and it's in Tooting.

However - nothing to stop anyone else organising nights out. I'd like to do a bit more of it - only reason I don't organise anymore than the few I do is beacuse people will just get fed with me. So over to those complaining to organise something. I mean, with CC folk, I've ate and drunk in Manningtree, Stevenage, Felpham, Whitstable, Tower Hill, London South Bank, Crystal Place, Surrey Hills, Windsor, St Albans, Clapham, Balham, Cambridge, Ludgate Hill, Rochester, Farringdon, my home at Surbiton, Tiptree, Primrose Hill...

...a bit Londoncentric/Home Counties but I'm hoping to do Wales this year. And trying for Scotland.
Errrm, what about Waterloo??? ^_^
And why is Doncaster/Sheffield Airport called Robin Hood Airport?
I've got a feeling that might be something to do with Sherwood Forest probably isn't as close to the city of Nottingham as people might think. However that said it's also quite a way from Doncaster and Sheffield.
Thursday 12 April at Mirch Marsala, Tooting. 7pm. Drinking in The Wheatsheaf (at Tooting Bec tube) beforehand.

Cheers all. All welcome from afar afield.

(As commuters we need to make an effort to keep that community spirit between us!)
I could be up for this. Love curry, beer and talking about bikes.

Robin Hood does not belong to Doncaster!

He was from Sheffield. North Sheffield. Loxley, in fact. Little John is buried at Hathersage. There was no Sherriff of Nottingham at the time of the legends, but there was a Sherriff of Nottingham and Derby, who resided at Peveril Castle, Castleton, near Sheffield (well, nearer Winnats Pass, which is much more interesting to us).

And yes, the Barnsdale link is the earlier one, though it would have merged into Sherwood in the South Yorkshire/Hallamshire area.

I could tell you all more about this, and the connections with Wakefield and Whitby, when we meet.

If you like...

Enjoy your curry, peeps! Sadly I'm on a train going in entirely the wrong direction, otherwise I would like to have joined you. I recommend the nan stuffed with fenugreek leaves, with something muttony cooked on the bone.

[spen] And next time you have a South London commuters' curry night, would you mind holding it a bit nearer South Wales, please? Selfish bastards. [/spen]
Drool! You should organise a South Wales curry night in Tooting, Claud!
No probs- lukesdad would simply ride there and back from Carmarthenshire by way of a light leg-stretcher.

I'm really pissed off. I've been looking forward to this ever since the last, and was going to come along, even though I should have been packing to go camping tomorrow.

But, sad to say, I suffered an off yesterday near Balham. Both bike and I are now less servicable than at first appeared. I'd hoped I could use the train and folder to get to work, but all I can manage this morning is hobbling as far as the bath. And I'm not sure I can get out with any degree of dignity or elegance. Ah well.

Hope everyone has a great time. I'll see you next time.
