Looking at the Wiki entry, I see it's a local nature reserve, so I imagine any clearance is done sympathetically.
lIt's a fantastic little bit of woodland near me that's somehow survived the industrial revolution and all the rest of it, against all the odds. Keep it to yourself...Queen's Wood. It's all kicking off in January apparently. I'll post pics if & when I see them in action.
Strangely enough, tho' I've walked there several times a week for many years, I don't think I've ever been on that road...but most roads round that part of the world have steep sections!l
I think I cycled along Queen's Wood Rd on a Crystal/Ally Palace ride. Is there a short, steep section near the Ally Pally end? .
That's great......there's nothing better than seeing working horses going about their business.
Looks brilliant. Do you know how long the work's gonna take? I've some time off last week in Jan and would like to see the horse in action.
I was told they'd be around for at least the whole of this month. Beyond that seemed uncertain.Looks brilliant. Do you know how long the work's gonna take? I've some time off last week in Jan and would like to see the horse in action.
I'm afraid there won't be any - like I say, they're finishing today in my woods, I won't be seeing them again. They are just lovely to watch working, we are blessed with the Weald & Downland Museum near us and they work them there too. They also race them and the thunder of the really really heavy horses being allowed full rein to run across the field is a sight to behold, despite their size they can really shift
Looking forward to more pictorial news @swee'pea99
