I can't decide who to hate most. LOCOG are the most useless organisation I've ever had the mis-fortune to come across. They seem to exist purely to make the lives of the general public more difficult.

However I have a deep hatred of taxi drivers. They seem to think the world owes them a living because they've done the Knowledge (although note how in the link they say the knowledge will be useless just because some lanes aren't available to them!).

Anyway here's the transcript of a meeting between the two

Glad I do not live in London, sounds like it is going to be chaos for anyone not in the "olympic family".

brilliant work! I love the bit about TfL managing demand! Fat chance.

Six years ago LOCOG had a choice. They could have decided to make the Olympics sustainable, and turned the whole of the eastward arteries from Old Street to the Bow Road in to bus lanes. They could have banned the private car from any road serving the four portals, Instead of which they decided to put bikes on the canal towpaths and create the Zil lanes. The same team that so gloriously screwed up the transport arrangements in Sydney 2000 were imported to screw up London 2012. It's not so much a failure waiting to happen as a failure actively pursued.

There is just one consolation. In the city of the purblind Olympics, the one-knee'd Bromptonist is King.

LOCOG are completely useless. I know the IOC is a private company but surely to pander to every whim like removing bike racks is ott. Closing the Greenway and the Vuetube cafe are among the most stupid decisions they've made too.

If you want a laugh (or to scare yourself at just how ignorant and selfish some people can be) head over to the London Taxi Drivers Forum. It's a hoot.

LOCOG said:
which will be vital for assisting movement to and from the Media Hub in Bloomsbury

well feck me , for all this time i thought i was working in hackney wick on the Media Hub and i was i Bloomsbury. the turnstiles must be tardis like portals.

LOCOG must be the only people who say its better to use the bike and then close most of the off road sensible routes for the duration of the games.

So what would happen if lots of cyclists were to cycle along the Zil lanes?

Nothing. The LOCOG cars won't be using them. BMW still hadn't got the Zil lane SatNav working when I drove one last week so none of us drivers will know where they are.

is your in car sat nav working yet? one of my colleagues is driving and somewhat worried that the sat navs in the cars he has tried are kaput.

I've driven them three times now over a number of weeks and the satnav has been kaput all three times. The custom LOCOG software just didn't work. I suspect the developers sat in their offices with nice fast internet connections forgot that on the road (and especially in the underground garage) connectivity can be dodgy/absent so they haven't provided for a fallback local cache.

Reverting to the standard BMW software worked but was full of mapping errors and didn't know about the zil routes. Which meant maps and local knowledge were the best bet. I plan to take my own satnav unit with me as back up against it not working on the night.

The only good news is if its not fixed, the consequences will reflect badly on BMW rather than the UK. Vorsprung broke technik.

appaz it has to contact munchen to work properly. Way to go BMW.

now the thing is a heck of a lot of the drivers don't have any local knowledge.......
