Yup, that's the sticky stiff from the tarmac wearing off the tyres. I rode up my gravel drive and the racket as the small stones hit the inside of the mudguard had to be heard to be believed.

Has anyone else experienced this. I put a new front tyre on for this ride. Bearing in mind we rode through that fresh laid tarmac. Haven't ridden that bike since but today it spent an hour in the back of my car in outside temps of 22 degrees. As soon as I got it out I rode it just half a mile but there was a squeak from the front wheel which got a bit louder when I wiggled the bars. It had all but gone after half a mile.

Cracking report, @Mr Orange and very accurate about loving the night rides. You could always come on the Tour albeit that is day pootling with added sitting down in bars in the sunshine......

Nice bike. Having your bars at the same height as the saddle is a revelation in comfort isn't it...
