I suspect you are unlikely to get a response from the OP(Originating Post(er)) as she has not been seen back on the forum since Feb. 2018.
I'm looking to do London to Lands End in 2020 but struggling to find a route. . . . .
thanks for the tip
But note that @moodoir was seeking a response from @Mile195 - who was last on only 7 weeks ago.
If you (@moodoir ) share what sort of riding you prefer (ie wiggly minor roads or all roads unless trunk A) then maybe you'll get good suggestions. Kingston Wheelers are organising (in a fairly loose sense) a 1000km "LLEL" audax next summer and an image of the route there and back is roughly shared on this page:
http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/20-895/
When considering whether to do the event I drafted a route for the outward leg (which visits the 'controls': Winchester, Amesbury, Langport, Exeter, Tavistock, St Austell, Lands End) here (and this draws on roads most (?80%) I've ridden): https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31384356?beta=false
My plotted way back is this (from Lands End, via Newquay, Launceston, Exeter, Langport, Salisbury, Whitchurch and Wokingham): https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31385010?beta=false
I cannot guarantee these routes are 'polished' - but I would use them 'as is', backed up by sound navigational capability (ie not blind 'follow the GPS' mode).

Hi there, I wondered how you found the ride in general as I'm looking to do London to Lands End in 2020 but struggling to find a route. How did you carve up the route and where did you stay if you don't mind me asking? Thanks, Dan.
Sorry for the late reply. Flu, christmas, work etc etc. We all know how it goes!
Day 1 - My house in South East London to a town called Verwood next to the new forest. 120 miles - mostly flat, 4800 foot climbing (sounds alot but not really over 120 miles). followed some canal towpaths round Woking.
Day 2 - Verwood to Newton-Poppleford. 90 miles - 7000 foot of climbing I think (from memory). Mixed terrain. Lumpy, but not "too" punishing.
Day 3 - Starcross ferry across the river, over the moors, Tavistock, Callington, Liskeard(ish). 70 miles, 8000 foot of climbing. Moors very hard work but worth the views... 4 mile climb out of Bovey Tracey probably the hardest 4 miles of my life!

I knew the terrain would get harder as I approached the south west which is why I made the first day the biggest.

I made contact with people off the WarmShowers website and sought out accomodation that way. It was a nice way to share the experience. I'm planning to do the trip again this year, but possibly wild-camping instead. That'll be a challenge since I'm on a racing bike. I'll have to really cut back on everything (even more than last time) to accomodate something to sleep under.
