Any advice is a waste of time until the OP decides how much money he wants to spend. Once the budget is clear, then it's down to soft stuff like location, facilities etc
Colleagues of mine are staying in Tower Bridge Road right now thanks to AirBnB. £99 a night for two bedrooms and a big lounge plus kitchen and TV room,
as @vickster points out, he can catch the train home, so I think the hotel has to better than Premier Inn. It's got a to be a treat, to be worth the expense.
St Martins Hotel was the last word a few years ago (Paris Hilton checked out of the Hilton and checked in there). Weird, because it's in a old 60s office block, but it's lovely apparently. I've eaten there, and it was very nice.
Yes I can't see why you would stay in Earl's Court or Tower Hill or Victoria etc after the theatre. Would be nearly as quick to get home from Waterloo. Unless spending the following day in London too
