A good way to remove really tight pedals is to set the crank horizontally with the chosen tool fitted so that it's as close as possible to alongside the crank with it's head near the BB centre then straddle the bike and stand on the tool. Obviously the crank needs to be forwards so that your foot is exerting torque towards the rear of the bike.
