Not to mention the 'young farts' who have never heard of half the stuff that they really ought to know. For example, many undergraduates on my course who were 10 years younger than me had no grasp of calculus so they were incapable of understanding our electromagnetism lectures. In the end, the lecturer suspended electromagnetism and gave them a crash course in engineering maths instead. A bit galling for us 'slightly less young farts' who
did understand calculus, had to sit through tedious explanations of stuff we had done in O-level/A-level maths, and then eventually had only half the allotted time to study what we should have been studying in the first place.
