Hi everyone,

This is my first post here so I hope its in the correct section and everything

Anyways. I'm looking to get a road bike (my first road bike). I will be using it to commute the short 10min biking distance to the local gym.

I am thinking about getting the Carrera Vanquish and have read some very good reviews on the bike. I'm not looking to go pro or anything like that. Just need a nice fast bike to commute with.

Would you guys here recommend I get the carrera vanquish? I'm looking to spend around £200 and hope I can get one from eBay for that much.

Thank you all.

Was given a very good review in Cycling+ a couple of months ago.
If you have read some good reviews and like the look of it, then go test one as that is the best thing to do.

It's a competent bike and is good value for money. Go for it.

Why stop at 10 minute rides? Get some extra miles in between the gym and your house and get even more value for money from the bike.

Fat chance of you being nearby, but it gives you an idea on price...

My son has a Carrera Gryphon Disc (Ebay buy £100). Different in that it has flat bars. Excellent for the money.
I borrowed it this morning to nip into town. Bloody hell its fast. No wonder I'm normally puffing and panting behind him on the hybrid while he's pootling along.

Turn that 10 minute ride to the gym into a 45 min ride and forget the gym!
I was looking at a Virtuoso outside work today and it looked like a quite quick commuter.
(disclaimer - I ride a rigid mtb )

I've had a Virtuoso since 2001. Although it's now been relegated to use as a winter hack, the components have lasted well and it's still fun to ride. £200 very well spent IMO.
