Looking for a new commuter

Hi. I currently own a Saracen Raw 2 mountain bike which I've been using to commute to work for the past 3-4 months. It's not really suited to the task in the slightest and I'm interested in buying something better.

My commute is a 7 mile round trip on main roads with some mild inclines, mosty flat. A friend recommended the Specialized Langster. It's within my budget (£450) and I like the look/simplicity of it compared to the Saracen.

Is there anything better for the money out there?

If you're sure you want a singlespeed then the Langster looks good.
If you want to future-proof your biking though i would suggest something a bit more general, like the Carrera Subway or Trek FX bikes.

I just bought the Rev Cross. Just need to build up the courage to take my first drop bar bike for my first snowy ride.
