It's looking increasingly like I'll end up going with flats and pedal extensions on some of my bikes; which appears problematic in itself as most mid-high end MTB flats now appear to attach only via a hex socket from behind the crank arm; which is a non-starter if I want to use solid pedal extenders in the interest of keeping my teeth in place.

I'm aware that DMR pedals still have spanner flats although I'm not overly keen on these - can anyone please suggest some decent MTB flat pedals that feature screw in "studs" for grip and have the standard 15mm spanner flats on their spindles for attachment to the crank arms?

DMR V12 or V11 are the main ones that still have flats. HT makes some models with them too, like the PA03A. Otherwise, you're looking at older used pedals. Search eBay for Spank Spike or older Nukeproof Electron pedals they often had the flats. Most modern brands have ditched them for the 8mm hex.
