Looking for Traffic FREE Cycle Paths North West UK for pair of senior cyclists, one with a folding conventional bike one with a recumbent trike, no rough terrain or canals please. Will travel up to 50 miles radius from PR9.:bicycle::bicycle::bicycle::bicycle:

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
http://cycle.travel/map will mark rougher terrain in green, but mapping of width restrictions likely to hamper a recumbent trike is an ongoing struggle.

some sections of the Preston guild wheel would be more than suitable for what you are looking for I would suggest parking at the frenchwood recreation area PR14PJ and riding through to the docka and back perhaps.

Thanks guys, I think we have enough to be going on with, the path between Glasson & Morecambe sounds very inviting.
The Glasson route is great but there and back is about 25 miles but you can got to lancaster and back or ride from lancaster to Morecambe if you like.

Might be a bit far but the Monsal trail near Buxton through to Bakewell would be ok and is a lovely ride. http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/visiting/trails/monsaltrail There is also the Tissington trail near Leek and the Middlewood Way from Macclesfield to Marple but if it is damp then the latter two can be a bit muddy. The Monsal Trail also has a cracking cafe on the route.

Hi Nibor
We know the area very well & have visited Glasson many times when we were yachting, we would be transporting the bike & trike to the area in our van & therefore biking from & to the van probably in 5 mile return chunks, we are both over our mid seventies, so can't tackle long runs. It's a pity the summer is almost over & the equinox is almost on us, sods law. If we are still fit enough next year we can try further.

+1 for the High Peak/Tissington trails, stunning scenery and great facilities, gets a bit busy at weekends/bank holidays but lovely in the week. If you park up near Buxton you can get all the way to Ashbourne.

The Equinox was last week (22nd September)
